Accuracy, Accuracy, Accuracy

PharmaCare has implemented WorkFlow, an innovative safety feature that uses bar-coding technology to ensure that the correct medication is dispensed.  Three electronic matches are required to fill an order.  When the correct medication is matched, the order moves to the next step in the dispensing process.  If the incorrect medication is pulled to be filled, WorkFlow alerts the tech to use the correct medication.  Another safety feature is the color, shape, size, and a photo of the pill is displayed on the pharmacists and pharmacy tech’s screens, providing an added layer of safety.

Our browser-based software allows your nurses to order refill medications on-line through a secure portal.  The easy-to-use browser based software allows authorized employees to access, search, edit and print medication information quickly and easily.  And, the information is stored electronically, so queries are immediate, fast and easy.

PharmaCare Connect provides a safe and secure connection between PharmaCare Pharmacy and your staff.  PharmaCare Connect gives you the ability to access pharmacy data, submit orders, view the patient billing matrix and check on the status of deliveries.  Patient safety is improved by reducing faxed refill orders. We’ve also implemented bar-scanning technology that allows your nurses to quickly send refill orders directly into the pharmacy’s queue.

PharmaScan, another innovation designed by PharmaCare, auto-files information directly into our patient e-Charts.  There is no waiting for files to be scanned into patient charts because each patient’s information is bar-coded and immediately auto-filed.

Many caregivers must call in orders rather than fax, email or use the on-line ordering system, which may lead to misinterpreted orders.  PharmaCare has implemented voice-to-speech technology, which automatically transcribes the order into text.  This allows our pharmacist to “double check” the voice order with the text transcription, verifying the order, reducing the potential for medication errors, and reducing the need for follow-up phone calls to the caregiver to clarify orders.  Because both voice and text orders are digital, they are both electronically filed into the patients chart, improving our ability to perform quality checks and follow up on inquiries.

Credit for Returned Medications

Medication returns are simple and accurate.  Scanners placed at your facility allow staff to scan medications slated to be returned for credit to the pharmacy.  The actual medication’s prescription information, including the drug’s NDC is verified.  This ensures that the right drug at the price that it was purchased is credited to your facility.
